Tea Ceremony・茶道
Back in grad school in San Francisco, I loved being enrolled in Omotesenke tea lessons. Imagine my delight when I was approached to attend an Omotesenke tea ceremony here in Date!
大学院時代、アメリカのサンフランシスコで表千家のお茶の授業にとても魅了されていました。そして、ここの伊達市で表千家のお茶会に招かれることになり、喜びもひとしおでした！
It was a frigid morning with remnants of the previous day’s snow still remaining outside. Several of us (myself being the only non-Japanese participant) gathered inside Mr. Yaginuma’s tea room and happily experienced the beautiful meditation that is tea ceremony. Every single movement has an order which I memorized way back when. This time I was happy to be a guest as opposed to serving the tea. You can truly enjoy this way!
その日は寒い朝で、前日の雪がまだ少し残っていました。数人の参加者で、お茶の先生の茶室に集まり、茶道という美しい瞑想の時間を楽しみました。すべての動きには順番があり、それを学生時代に覚えたことがよみがえりました。今回はお茶を点てる側ではなく、客側として参加し、存分に楽しむことができました。
Our teacher, who was formerly an art teacher, thoughtfully considered every detail to compliment the season and his guests down to the scroll displayed, flora and chawan, tea cups, available to use and sweets offered.
先生は元々美術の教師でもあり、季節やゲストに合わせて、掛け軸や花、お茶椀、そしてお菓子に至るまで細部にわたって配慮してくれました。
We had a morning session, enjoyed lunch together and then it was time for more tea in the afternoon. Thank you so much for this special opportunity!
午前のセッションを終えた後、一緒に昼食をとり、午後にまたお茶を楽しむ時間がありました。このような特別な体験をさせていただき本当にありがとうございました！
