The Christmas Boots of Tiny Tots Plaza ・ ちびっ子広場のクリスマスブーツ​

We are finally nearing Christmas, and the indoor play areas of Date City are now decorated with Christmas Boots.
ようやくクリスマスが近づく今頃、伊達市のこども遊び場にはクリスマブーツが飾られています。

This year, I paid a visit to Tiny Tots Plaza, in Ryōzen Town’s Izumihara District.
今年、霊山町の泉原地区にあるちびっ子広場に訪問しました。

Christmas Boots originate in Date City’s friendship city of Kusatsu, Shiga.
クリスマスブーツは伊達市の友好交流都市の滋賀県草津市が発祥です。

The Christmas Boots on display have been made by the children of Date City.
展示されているクリスマスブーツは伊達市の子ども達が作ったものです。

The trends of this year appear in some of the works.
いくつかの作品には今年の流行が現れています。

Christmas boots are also being displayed at other indoor play areas within the city from November 27th.
11月27日からほかの市内の室内こども遊び場でもクリスマスブーツが展示されています。

While we enjoy putting this year to end, why not come and see the energetic creations of Date City’s children?
今年の年末を楽しみながら、伊達市の子ども達の元気な作品を見に来ませんか?

A Lively Walk in Ryōzen ・ 霊山でいきいきウォーキング​

Early in November, I took a lively walk through the beautiful town of Ryōzen.
11月初旬、美しい霊山町で生き生きと散歩しました。

This walk was part of the “Iki-iki Walking” series of organized strolls throughout the city, aimed at developing the fitness of residents.
この散歩は伊達市の健康づくり事業の「いきいきウォーキング」の一つでした。

We started by stretching inside the Ryōzen General Health & Welfare Center, Chausu-no-Sato.
霊山体育館総合福祉センター「茶臼の里」でストレッチ体操から始まりました。

Within minutes, we were walking through Kakeda at a surprisingly brisk pace.
それからすぐに掛田を意外と速足で歩いていきました。

We walked through a chrysanthemum patch in front of Kakeda Elementary School.
掛田小学校の前にある菊畑を通りました。

Some Ryōzen residents had set up pedal-powered thresher for the elementary students to try using.
小学生が体験できるように、数人の霊山町民は足踏み式脱穀機を用意しました。

They kindly let me use it as well – it was a lot of fun!
僕にも使わせてくださいました。とっても楽しかったです!

Just like the town’s children, we progressed from Kakeda Elementary to Ryōzen Middle School.
町の子どもと同じように、僕達は掛田小学校から霊山中学校に進みました。

We turned onto a country road and started climbing uphill…
田舎道へ曲がって、登り始めて…

…and then walked downhill…
…そして下って…

…until we took another turn and, to my surprise, the Kakeda community appeared right before our eyes.
…再び曲がったら、なんと、掛田の町が目の前に出ました。

It was only a few minutes before we were back at Chausu-no-Sato.
あっという間に、茶臼の里に戻りました。

A number of walkers made sure to collect Healthy and Happy Date points towards their Fukushima Kenmin Card.
数人の参加者はふくしま健民カードのためのだてな健幸ポイントをちゃんともらいました。

I was impressed by both the beauty of Ryōzen Town, as well as the participants’ enthusiasm for physical fitness.
霊山町の美しさにも、参加者の健康づくりに対する熱心にも感動しました。

I hope to go for another lively walk through Date City!
もう一度伊達市でいきいきウォーキングに参加したいです!
