School Trip to Tsukidate Hana Kōbō・月舘花工房への遠足

In February Yvonne and I (Cameron) were invited to accompany the first and second grade students at Tsukidate Academy on their field trip to Tsukidate Hana Kōbō. I haven’t been on a school field trip since I was in middle school so I was excited to participate. This year the students made pizza.
2月、イボンヌさんと僕（キャメロン）は、月舘学園の1年生と2年生の月舘花工房への遠足に同行することができました。学校の遠足は中学生の時以来なので、参加するのが楽しみでした。今年は生徒たちが花工房でピザ作り体験をしました。

The students were divided into groups. My group was in charge of making the dough.
生徒たちはグループに分けられました。私のグループは生地作りを担当しました。

Everyone took turns making adding in the ingredients and kneading the dough.
グループのみんなが交代で材料を入れ、生地を練りました。

I checked in on another group that was hard at work frying the vegetables.
野菜を炒める担当のグループをチェックしました。

While another group was in charge of fanning the fire that was to be used for cooking the pizzas.
もう一つのグループはピザを焼くための火を扇ぐ係でした。

While the staff continued to prepare things for us behind the scenes, the students were allowed some recess time. Where the kids wasted no time sledding down a nearby hill. 
スタッフさんが準備を続けている間、生徒たちには休み時間が与えられました。生徒たちは近くの丘をソリで滑り降りました。

A few of the students asked me to accompany them onto a little excursion in the woods further away from the facility.
3人の生徒が、施設から少し離れた森でちょっとした探索に付き合ってほしいと僕を誘ってくれました。

After we reconvened, the students began to spread the dough out into a large and flat circle.
休み時間が終わったら、生徒たちは生地を平らな円形に広げ始めました。

The students then coated the dough in olive oil and pizza sauce.
その後、生徒たちは生地にオリーブオイルとピザソースを塗りました。

And for the toppings the students put on broccoli, potato, ham, onion, and cheese.
トッピングにはブロッコリー、ジャガイモ、ハム、玉ねぎ、チーズを乗せました。

With so many toppings, cutting the pizza was a two person job.
トッピングが多かったので、ピザを切るのは2人がかりでの仕事でした。

Lastly, enjoyed eating our pizza along with our bento boxes for lunch. I enjoy seeing the different ways each students lunchboxes have been prepared, and the fun designs of the boxes themselves.
最後に、昼食の弁当と一緒にピザを食べました。お弁当の作り方や弁当箱のデザインは家庭と子供それぞれです。弁当箱で個性が出るのが面白かったです。

Of course the students didn’t forget to clean off the tables before we left. 
生徒たちは帰る前に忘れずにテーブルを拭いていました。

After we said our thank yous and goodbyes to the staff, we set off for one last brief walk through the woods nearby. 
スタッフさんに別れの挨拶をした後、みんなでちょっとしたお散歩に行きました。

Yvonne and I were grateful to have been invited and hope to have the opportunity to accompany the students on another field trip in the future!
私たち国際交流員を招待してくれてうれしかったです。これからもまた生徒たちの遠足に同行する機会があることを願っています！
