SA Japan Online Exchange・日米オンライン交流

For the past several months, Cameron and I have been participating in a series of online international exchange calls using Zoom between Seiko Gakuin students in Date City, Japan and City Lab High School students in Revere, Massachusetts, USA.

ここ数か月間、キャメロンと一緒に日本の伊達市にある聖光学院の生徒とアメリカ・マサチューセッツ州リビア市のシティラボ(City Lab)の生徒との間で行われるZoomを使ったオンラインの国際交流イベントに参加してきました。

We recently concluded our last one for the fiscal year. This one was particularly interesting as it was led by Yu Yoshida, a Seiko Gakuin student. In addition, not only students, but Date City residents also participated. Cameron and I acted as group leaders and interpreters within our respective breakout rooms.

先日、本年度最後の交流を無事に終えました。今回は特に興味深いもので、聖光学院の生徒である吉田優さんが司会を務めました。さらに、生徒だけでなく、伊達市の市民の方々も参加されました。キャメロンと私は、それぞれのブレイクアウトルームでグループリーダーや、通訳として役割を果たしました。

There was a warmup question, a gesture game and a roulette style conversation question game that we all played. It was fun to interpret for my group (consisting of Japanese and American high school girls) and see them smile and have a good time.  

当日の内容は、自己紹介、ジェスチャーゲーム、ルーレット式の会話ゲームが行われました。私は、グループ（日本とアメリカの高校生）の通訳をしながら、みんなが笑顔で楽しんでいる様子を見ることができ、とても嬉しかったです。

Revere and Date are sister cities and we alternated yearly with sending students back and forth up until 2017. Wouldn’t it be amazing to bring that back? At the very least, I’m thankful to be in touch and maintain this relationship on some level.

リビア市と伊達市は姉妹都市であり、平成29年までは毎年交互に生徒を派遣し合い、直接お互いの都市を訪れ、交流を行っていました。またこの交流が復活したら素晴らしいと思いませんか？オンラインという形ではありますが、こうした交流を行い、お互いの都市のつながりを持ち続けられることに感謝しています。
