Hobara Summer Festival ほばらサマーフェスティバル

   Every year in August, Hobara has its Summer Festival. There are many food stalls from Date run establishments and fun events to partake in! In the early evening, a bunch of us do the bon dance and receive an uchiwa, a hand-held fan, for participating. The fans have different numbers printed on them that could be called in the evening raffle.

   毎年8月、保原ではほばらサマーフェスティバルが開催されます。屋台や、楽しいイベントが盛りだくさんでした！夕方になると、大勢の参加者が盆踊りを踊り、参加の記念としてうちわをもらうことができました。うちわには番号が付いていて、盆踊り終了後に夜の大抽選会が行われ、大いに盛り上がりました。

伊達市国際交流協会の皆さんと一緒に踊って、私もうちわをもらいました！

Some of the prizes in the raffle were a SodaStream, a TV, a tablet, a Muji cushion, a 5kg bag of rice and more. Another way of winning prizes is that if you dance well, they will put a placard around your neck. Later, you take the placard and exchange it for the prize it corresponds with. Last year, my family won a year supply of Tamasuzu Soy Sauce this way!

抽選会の景品には、ソーダストリーム、テレビ、タブレット、無印のクッション、5kgのお米などがありました。また、抽選会の景品とは別に、踊りが上手だった人は首からかけるプラカードが渡され、そのプラカードを後で景品と交換することができる個人賞の景品もありました。昨年は、この個人賞の景品で1年分のタマスズ醤油が当たりました！

This year, we didn’t win anything, but it was still so much fun regardless. I loved seeing my kids running amuck with their friends and enjoying shaved ice. It is a highlight of the summer and a reminder that fall will be here before we know it. Hope to see you there next year too!

今年は何も当たりませんでしたが、それでもとても楽しい時間を過ごしました。子どもたちが友達と一緒に走り回って、かき氷を楽しんでいる姿を見るのが大好きでした。今年の夏のハイライトであり、秋がすぐそこまで来ていることを実感させてくれるイベントです。
