Receiving My Golden Health Card ・ 黄金健民カード受章

This month, people around the world have been watching athletes compete for gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 
今月、世界中の方々は東京2020オリンピック・パラリンピックで金メダルを目指している選手を見ていました。

I also received a golden award!
僕も金賞をもらいました!

Since it kicked off last year, I have been participating in the “Healthy and Happy Date Point Program”.
僕は伊達市の「だてな健幸ポイント事業」に、去年の事業開始時から参加しています。

Through this program, Date City residents can receive a “Fukushima Kenmin Card”, which entitles them to special services (such as discounts) at participating businesses within the prefecture.
この事業を通して、伊達市民はふくしま健民カードがもらえて、県内の協力店で特典を受けることができます。

I already had my normal card, but have been going for the gold.
僕はすでにノーマル・カードがありましたが、ゴールドを目指していました。

First, I submitted my forms to the staff of the Hobara Health Center.
まずは、保原保健センターの職員に記入台紙を提出しました。

They were scrupulously checked.
厳密に確認されました。

Then, I bid farewell to my normal-stage Kenmin Card.
そして、ノーマル・カードと決別しました。

It had served me well in procuring countless discounts at participating businesses.

そのカードは協力店で数々の特典を受けるのに、役立ちました。

But in its place, I received my long-sought gold card.
しかし、代わりに待望のゴールド・カードを頂きました。

I quickly received yet another card – a post card.
すぐに、もう一枚のカードをもらいました － 今回はポストカードでした。

This card grants me entry to a drawing by the Prefecture.
このはがきで、県の抽選に参加ができます。

The prize is 1.7 kilograms of fine Fukushima pork!
賞品は1.7キログラムの美味しい福島産豚肉です!

Yet the best was kept for last.
しかし、最も良いものは最後に渡されました。

As a reward for obtaining a gold card, Date City also gave me a postcard.
ゴールド・カード入手のご褒美として、伊達市からもはがきを頂きました。

It entitles me to a gift certificate worth 500円.
これで500円分の商品券をもらえます。

Unlike the Prefectural award, this one is guaranteed – no need to win a drawing!
県の賞品と違って、こちらは必ずもらえます – 抽選で当たる必要はないのです!

It is my opinion that Date City’s Healthy and Happy Date Point Program is the most fun way to obtain a Fukushima Kenmin Card in the whole prefecture.
僕の意見ならば、伊達市のだてな健幸ポイント事業は県内では最も楽しいふくしま健民カードの入手手段です。

That’s because, unlike other municipalities, in Date City you gain points according to how much you walk – so you end up wanting to walk as much as possible each day.
なぜなら、他の自治体と違って、伊達市では歩くほどポイントが溜まりますので、毎日できるだけたくさん歩きたくなります。

Date City residents shouldn’t miss out on this chance to enjoyably improve their health!
伊達市民はこの健康改善の機会を損ねるべきではないです!

Everyone, let’s go for gold!
皆さん、ゴールドを目指しましょう!

Taking a Walk in the Takako Station North District・高子駅北地区で散歩

This month has been filled with rainy days, so when a sunny day arrived, I rushed over to the Takako Station North District to try out its recently completed walking course.
今月は雨の日が多いので、晴れの日が来るとすぐ高子駅北地区に行って、新しくできたウォーキングコースで散歩してみました。

As the name suggests, this new housing area is directly north of Abukuma Kyūkō’s Takako Station.
名前通り、この新しい住宅団地は阿武隈急行の高子駅の直ぐ北にあります。

It is also beside the Kameoka Hachiman Shrine.
亀岡八幡神社の隣でもあります。

On this occasion, I parked at the shrine.
今回僕はその神社に駐車しました。

As he was standing nearby, I was confident that Date Tomomune would look after the car.
近くに立っている伊達朝宗が車を見守ってくれると信じたからです。

Though no homes have yet been built, the walking course has been finished, complete with exercise equipment.
住宅はまだ建っていませんが、ウォーキングコースが完成していて、運動器具も完備されています。

I made a point of trying each piece of exercise equipment.
それぞれの運動器具を使ってみることにしました。

It was a good workout!
いい運動でした!

It was also very humbling.
そして、この経験を通じて、より謙虚になりました。

The experience helped me realized why I wasn’t invited to compete in this year’s Tōkyō 2020 Olympic Games.
なんで僕が今年の東京2020五輪に招かれていなかったのか、理解できました。

Whether you are training for the next Olympics three years from now, or want to maintain your health for the next thirty years and beyond, the walking course in the Takako Station North District is a perfect fit!
3年後の次の五輪のために運動している方でも、これからの30年間の健康を確保したい方でも、高子駅北地区のウォーキングコースはぴったりです!
